Thanksgiving Weekend, the boys took home 3rd place in the White Bear Lake Moose Goheen tourney. They Surprised the Home team from White Bear in the opening round with a convincing 4-2 win. The Devils beat two teams ranked in the top 20 by let’s play hockey. Their only loss was to the #1 ranked team in the state Edina White. A good measuring stick to start the season.
Dec. 9th-11th, the Pee Wees took their show on the road traveling south to Rochester Mn. They came home with 2nd place Hardware. The boys led every minute of every period all weekend long, except the last two periods in the Championship game against Prior Lake. Losing a heartbreaker 2-1. The young men ran into a great goalie from Prior Lake, as they out shot the Lakers 29 to 16. The Devils outscored their opponent 17-4 in the 12 team tourney.
Over the Holidays, the Boys from Saint Paul welcomed the 17th ranked team from Duluth East (Black) in an Outdoor Winter Classic at Phalen Rec. Center. In a memorable game for both teams, the Devils defeated the Greyhounds 6-3 in front of a nice size crowd outdoors. The shots were 27-7 in favor of the home boys from the Saintly City.
The first weekend of January, the St. Paul Boys hosted the Governors Cup Tournament. Needless to say, they defended their back yard ice Perfectly. After defeating North St. Paul and Roseville, the Devils played Buffalo in the championship game. The Bison from Buffalo came in with a perfect District 5 record (8-0-1). The young men from the Capital City saved their best game for last, dominating Buffalo from start to finish winning the game 6-2. The St. Paul squad went a perfect 3-0 for the weekend and out scored their opponents 14-3.

January 20-22nd the Devils played in the Inver Grove Heights Tournament. Once again the young men saved their best game for last. In the opening round, they played the host team from I.G.H./S.S.P.. In a gut wrenching game, the boys survived with a 3-2 overtime victory. In the second round the boys found their stride Shuting out the Warriors from Sibley 4-0. The game was highlighted by a short handed goal in the 2nd period by Drew Johnson. Then in the Championship game everything came together and the well oiled machine from St. Paul was hitting on all cylinders. Taking down the Zephyrs from Mahtomedi 8-0 for the title. Their 2nd title in as many weeks. The shots were 48-6! All three lines were clicking on that Sunday afternoon. Great Job men!
Feb. 3rd thru the 5th, the team packed up and went north on its 2nd out of town tournament. This time they drove 3 and a half hours to Walker Mn. In the 1st game they took down Duluth East Red 6-1, in the semi finals the boys played Blaine Blue and “Walker’d” all over them winning 11-4. Eight different players scored in the 11 goal outburst. The Championship game was an all District 8 final, with the Devils from St. Paul taking on the Predators from Woodbury Royal. The Predators scored 1st and never relinquished the lead. Despite outshooting the Preds 30 to 17, The Devils could only muster 2 goals losing 6-2. A tip of the hat to the Woodbury goalie.
The 2011-2012 Johnson Como B1 pee wees played in 5 tournament this year. They went to the Championship game in 4 of them. Winning 2 Championships. (They took 3rd in the other). Now that is impressive! Nice consistency Boys. We own the 3rd shelf in the trophy case at Phalen Arena!!!
